Emaan Made Easy Series

These series by Muhammad Al Jibaly are a simplified series of books dealing with the fundamental Islamic beliefs. The material is well-founded on authentic proofs from the Qur’aan and Sunnah. The books are written in easy language, making them accessible to individuals with limited vocabulary.

This series covers the six pillars Eemaan and reIated subjects as follows:

This series consists of six books:

Knowing Allah

Knowing the Angels

Knowing Allah’s Books & the Qur’ an

Knowing Allah’s Prophets & Messengers

Knowing the Last Day

Believing in Allah’s Decree, Qadar

Each book is structured into chapters, sections, and subsection to organize learning and facilitate grasping the concepts by elementary-level readers. Furthermore each chapter includes exercises review and emphasizes the concepts. All this makes the Eemaan Made Easy series a valuable source of reliable study material for schools and individuals.

Weekend Learning Series

The Islamic Studies books from WeekendLearning are based on a comprehensive 12-year curriculum. The curriculum contains broad aspect of Islam based on the Qur’ān and authentic Hadīth. The topics in the curriculum are laid out in a systematic manner to suit the teaching needs in a weekend Islamic school. Topics are selected based on age, grade and learning levels of each grade. Some topics are covered in multiple grades to add different perspective, details and additional emphasis. The teachers and director of the school will find continuity in the curriculum as it unfolds year to year. Teachers will know how much each student will learn year to year, and how much they will have learned at the end when they graduate out of the school, insha-Allah.

All Islamic Studies books from WeekendLearning have age and grade appropriate lessons. Even the length and depth of each lesson and sentences in the lessons are age and grade appropriate. The lessons are tailored for 50-60 minute classes. Students in all grades will love the simple and child-friendly language and sentences in the books. The language of the lessons and the treatment of the subjects are made from children’s perspective. Even English spelling of Arabic words is age appropriate. The books do not simply disseminate knowledge, but make it relevant to the students’ life and their world. The lessons do not use a lecturing tone, but engage the students in a respectful discussion.

by Yahya Emerick

Islam is the way of life for millions of people around the world. Its teachings guide people to live harmoniously and in balance with themselves, others and the world around them. Everyday people come into contact with Islam and those who practice this faith. The need to know about Islamic teachings has become more important than ever. As Muslims assimilate the English language into their rainbow of lexicons the need for clear and concise literature grows. This is especially true when one considers that there are millions of Muslims whose native language is now English. In addition, many seekers of knowledge have been yearning for a book that would present the clear and precise Islamic view of life in a format that not only invites further study and research, but that also provides the path to achieve this goal. What Islam is All About is a textbook designed to meet all of these needs. In one volume is included the basic history of Prophet Muhammad (s), the teachings of Islam, the history of the ancient prophets, the study of the Qur’an, the Islamic philosophy of the world and life within it, Islamic law, hadith, contemporary issues and many more. Perfect for Muslim schools, Sunday schools, adult study classes, independent learners, students of religion, seekers of truth and anyone interested to know more about Islam from an insider’s point of view. You will not find a more complete, compelling and pleasant presentation of Islam and what it teaches anywhere else!

Nellanart:

Recommended by Well Trained Mind, Nellan Art is a complete French proficiency curriculum made by a Homeschooling mother.

Please read the following excerpts from their website.

Nallenart is , a fun French Program with gentle introduction to second language study including phonics.

Nallenart has been providing workbooks, flashcards, and other educational material for teaching at home and in the classroom since 1995.

In addition to grammar lessons, vocabulary and exercises, the content of the course is developed around a theme of self discovery. Students are challenged to examine their likes and dislikes, the uniqueness of their personalities, and their hopes and dreams for the future.

I don’t know French myself, can I teach my child using your program?

According to the author of Nellan Art: Yes, you can! L’Art de lire is designed to be easy to use. The lessons begin with the most basic concepts. The audio files walk the child right through the book, giving them opportunity to hear and repeat the words and phrases that are taught. The unique “story” approach makes the lessons fun and develops confidence by giving students a sensitivity to the flow of the language. Many homeschooling parents have written me to say that their children are “teaching themselves” using L’Art de lire. It is that easy to use.

Here is a list of what Nellan Art has to offer:

L’Art de DIRE: is a great introduction to learning French for grades K-3. Detailed lesson plans, reproducible teaching aids and a totally oral approach make this book ideal for teaching French to children who are not yet ready to learn to read in French.

L’Art de LIRE: combines beginning conversational French with an introduction to French phonics, enabling children to read simple stories in French from the first lesson. Includes verb conjugations, grammar, and conversational French.

L’Art d’ÉCRIRE: Follows the Core French Curriculum Guidelines of the Ontario Canada Ministry of Education for Grade 9, FSF1D.

For further details please visit the website Nellanart.

Here are some more interesting reads from their website:

The Challenge of Making Conversation in French

Many homeschooling parents find it a challenge making everyday conversation when teaching French as a Second Language. Not every homeschool teacher has the fluency required to speak comfortably in French. Don’t let this hold you back! Even beginners are up to the challenge of making conversation in French!

Children need to see you making the effort to speak too, even if your own French language skills are a bit rusty, or even non-existent! Practice with your children as much as possible, making the things you are learning part of your daily interactions whenever you can. Continue reading here.

What is the Best Age to Begin Learning French as a Second Language?

Many parents are uncertain about the best time to begin second language studies. There is often a fear that it might be too late to begin past a certain age.
Writing with Ease

In The Complete Writer series, Susan Wise Bauer (author of Well Trained Mind) turns every parent into a writing teacher. No experience is needed. Drawing on her fifteen years of experience in teaching writing, Susan lays out a carefully-designed sequence of steps that will teach every student to put words on paper with ease and grace.

This alternative plan for teaching writing combines the best elements of old-fashioned writing instruction with innovative new educational methods—and explains why so many writing programs fail.

Designed for elementary-aged writers and for older students who still struggle, Writing With Ease builds a sturdy foundation of basic skills for grades 1–4 (or levels 1–4 for the older student who needs more work) all in the same book. Diagnostic tests within the book will help the parent to determine where the child needs to start and which workbook the child will need.

You can use the text by itself as a guide, then choose your own copywork and dictation; or you can buy the workbooks, which do all the work for you.

Each workbook covers one grade.

Around the World in 180 Days

Around the World in 180 Days teaches geography and history on a continent-by-continent basis. The student learns about the major countries on each continent, as well as the basics of the continent’s history, geography, and culture.” Multi-level.

“This is not a textbook. It is a series of questions that the student must research in order to answer. Plenty of resources (available in most public libraries) are listed to help the student in his or her research, and the teacher’s edition has all of the answers. Thus, even if the student cannot find the answer, you will not be lost. The pages in the student book are all three-hole punched and perforated. The student can fill out the worksheets and compile a notebook which will document his or her work.”
